James Jeans

Los Angeles based designer jean company founded by Seun Lim, who is the designer behind the unique denim line called James Jeans, was initially named after her husband, the jeans then became an instant favourite due to their amazingly slimming fit.

Seun Lim is also known to have received a very prestigious art education which earned her a B.F.A and an M.F.A at the School of the Arts Institute of Chicago. This education enabled her to gain a better knowledge of the complexities of clothing and denim fashion, and she later on came up with a design for some exceptional jeans; jeans that could be distinguished by others pairs for their detailed fit and very studied washes.

Officially launched in the month of September 2003, it is absolutely no wonder that these jeans became an instant sensation when their initial shipment of 1,100 pairs to Barney’s department shop, was sold within a week. The speed of sales was so outstanding that James Jeans easily achieved multimillion sales within three months of having been launched.

Designer label James Jeans are characterized for their very high-end, and custom fitted most durable denim. One wouldn’t give James Jeans sufficient credit, however, if we were to stop there. The real truth is that there are a few denim lines which can accomplish all that it does, whilst at the same time being customized to fit all of our needs. Seun Lim grades each line of her jeans independently and not on computers as other lines generally tend to do. The darted pockets are angled in such a way that they can at times make the backside appear a lot smaller whilst a dark rinse on the inner thigh can makes thighs appear slimmer. Also, the entire leg is also manufactured to look slimmer by highlighting the denim above the knee rather than below it. Every detail is carefully made in order to make James Jeans most flattering to the female body.

More recently, Seun Lim came out with a new “Premium” label, one with a breakthrough permanganate potassium wash technique developed by Seun Lim herself. This wash, which creates a faded look, produces a more distinguished, and handcrafted style. Whiskers surrounding the zipper area of the jeans are 3-dimensional in this new label, and the richer contrast between the shading therefore makes the waist appear far slimmer. These “Premium” jeans are also blended along with cashmere which makes them absolutely irresistible.

A big celebrity following of James Jeans includes Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman and Courtney Cox along with socialites such as Emilia Fanjul Pfeifler, Patricia Herrera, Holly Dunlap (from Hollywould shoes) and Plum Sykes. This is yet another definite proof of the success of James Preserved Jeans.
