Celine

Celine, a Paris-based concern was founded in 1947 as a children's shoe store. In the 1950's, it expanded it's product line in order to cater for leather goods and accessories. In the 1960's, Celine started offering womens ready-to-wear and established retail stores around the world ten years later. Celine was purchased by LVMH and became part of its luxury goods companies along with such brands as Dior, Givenchy, etc.

In 1997, Michael Kors was hired as Chief Designer and promoted as Creative Director in 1999.

In the year 2000, Celine opened a 2400 sq.ft. store on Madison Avenue, in New York. In May 2001 Celine also opened a very chic store on Bond Street, in London.
